Solar Mosque

2008.05.17

The Solar Mosque provides an opportunity to harness free and clean energy for all. The solar tiles are inspired by traditional blue mosaics in Islamic architecture.

The captured sunlight is used to generate electricity to power all the air-conditioning, lighting and other energy needs of the mosque and the surrounding community.

The Solar Mosque can power all its energy needs from the solar cells on its 20m dome. It is constructed from 350 interlocking diamond segments and can generate over 70kW of power in total.
