Grand Carrera Caliber 36 RS

2007.06.06

We are proud to have contributed to the Tag Heuer Grand Carrera Calibre 36, presented at BaselWorld 2009. Accurate to 1/10th of a second, the Calibre 36 consists of the El primero movement inside the successful Grand Carrera case.

Our aim when designing the Grand Carrera Calibre 36 was to make the accurate El Primero movement as readable as possible. To achieve this we designed the caliper rotating scale on the outer dial which uses a vernier scale.

The design language of the Carrera Calibre 36 was influenced by our previous work on the Grand Carrera range which took inspiration from modern GT cars. The dial is housed inside a 43mm black titanium carbide coated case, with polished beveled edges complemented by curved, faceted horns. The curved faceted markers on the dials and oversized screw-in crowns and push buttons clasps were designed to reinforce this high-tech look.
