In 2010 we designed the concept and detailing for Atelier Haute Communication’s boutiques, a luxury boutique for high-end mobile phones.

Eleven flagship stores have been successfully opened over the last twenty months in China’s most sought-after locations from Shanghai, to Beijing and Hong Kong.

The idea of luxury often harks back to the past, and it’s no different in China. Yet Atelier is showcasing high-tech products with no obvious connection to the past.

Atelier is a fusion of both. LCD screens and projection walls showcase the latest in technology. The wall paneling might look last century but it is all CNC cut and intelligent in its functionality.

Part inspired by a scene from Kubrick's Space Odyssey, where Dave Bowman finds himself in the surreal luxury of a 19th century room bristling with cutting edge technology. It's a vision made real – not in 2001, but in 2010.

ATELIER'S DISPLAY SYSTEMS ARE BUILT AROUND A "LEGO PRINCIPLE"

Their formal simplicity hides an effective system, which allows it to adapt to any space, and present products of different brands in a new, clean way.

Cushions flip around to reveal different identities and signing is located via magnets. The orange leather wall cabinets are displays by day and safes by night, giving an exclusive yet secure environment for exceptionally valuable pieces.
