At the beginning of the manufacturing process is a block of finest stainless steel. Fifteen complex stamping tools later, and you get the unique angular Carrera case we all know and love.

It is one of the most minimalist cases ever made, but by far not the simplest to produce.

The original Carrera watch, dating back to 1963, is a watch born out of Jack Heuer’s desire to make a chronograph with outstanding readability. Compared to earlier chronographs, it was much more minimalist in look, doing away with anything that was not necessary.

When creating the award winning Carrera 1887, we aimed for the same objective- the definitive clean, legible timepiece.

The Carrera 1887 has become a huge success since its launch in 2010 and the range is slowly expanding.

About 10 prototypes were made on the indexes alone, in order to find the perfect balance of proportion and optimum readability.

Today’s movements are marvels of technology and science. Our designers work very closely together with TAG Heuer’s engineers to refine the look of the components. It is an invisible design process which can take longer than the external design.
