BREAK SPEED RECORDS – MAKE HISTORY

In the summer of 2010 Guy Semon, Vice President of science and engineering at TAG Heuer, announced that he had developed a mechanical movement which would break the impossible "sound barrier" of 1000th of a second accuracy.

This is more than 10 times faster than the fastest chronograph ever made. The gauntlet was thrown down for us to come up with the right design to celebrate this historic moment for TAG Heuer.

The 1st design challenge was the visualization of information, how do you display an elapsed time of 2 min 45.396 seconds? Going back to Heuer's instruments we created a clear and logical layout with no decorative elements- pure functionalitiy was our focus.

The 2nd design challenge was to create a case design worthy of, but not competing with, this historic movement. The result is an evolution of the Carrera which has won several awards.

The screwed titanium horns are separated from the case, keeping the angular design of Carrera, while creating a new high-tech housing for the fastest movement ever made.
