One of the studio favourites, the Grand Carrera Pendulum is a great example of what Tag Heuer do best. They take a technology that is seen as unchangeable and completely reinvent it.

The Pendulum is the first watch not to use a sprung balance wheel to regulate time. It uses magnetic fields. The result is a watch that regulates time far more precisely due to the lack of friction from a spring.

On concepts like the Penulum nothing is standard and all details are designed specifically for this one product.

The new slimmer Grand Carrera case, stamped indexes, titanium coating and case back were all introduced to celebrate the inventiveness of TAG’s engineers. They deserve nothing less.

DESIGN OF NOTHINGNESS

The designer's role in a concept project like this is to express the new technology clearly. To appreciate this (invisible) innovation we introduced the idea of the Pendulum together with the engineers. The Pendulum swings back and forth defying gravity.
